Sorts of hosting services

A hosting service includes saving and/or sharing certain web content on a web hosting server handled by a hosting distributor. There are different varieties of hosting services utilized for various aims, so let's have a peek at them. In that way, you can decide what you want, depending on whether you desire to build a weblog, mail accounts, or to share files with pals and acquaintances.

- File hosting: a service distributed by particular firms, which permits you to share bulky files. These could be disk images, movies, audio files, archived files, etc. This solution is also known as file storage, and its single designation is to share files, since it does not offer site uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either receive an accidentally generated download link for each of them, or you will be able to see a record of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to see .html or .php web files in your web browser. Free file storage accounts are often supported by exhibiting adverts by the download links, while a timer obliges you to await a certain interval of time to see them. A single file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you purchase a paid file storage package, there are no restrictions as to how many files you can upload/download right away, and also there is no restriction as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

Now, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting suppliers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more modish "cloud hosting". This is a completely improper interpretation of the literal meaning of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting environment would split the workload between different groups of web hosting servers in a cluster, which are devoted to attending miscellaneous site hosting services (mail, storage space, statistics, DNS, databases, Control Panel, etc.) So, the file hosting solution is just a kind of a data storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: comparable with file hosting; given providers offer a hosting service for pictures only. This hosting kind is appropriate if you desire to share a huge quantity of pictures with friends or acquaintances since the service is typically free of charge. You will receive a random link for each image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file hosting service, .html and .php files are not supported, so the solution cannot be utilized for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a solution devoted to managing your e-mail aliases. Some suppliers provide web site hosting solutions for web sites, but do not provide an e-mail hosting service. If you wish to have a mail address with your domain name but do not desire to have a site, then the email hosting solution is what you need. You can open mailbox accounts and administer them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The e-mail hosting solution includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP mail servers.

- Video hosting: this solution enables you to upload and share video files. You can either share a link to a certain video clip, or you can embed the video in your web page that is hosted elsewhere. The benefit of availing of this method in lieu of uploading the video clip in a hosting account is that the video file creates a specific amount of central processing unit load, so with a couple of video clips and several hundred website visitors, you may have difficulty with your web site hosting supplies. Embedding the video will enable you to own as many videos as you would like without worrying about system reserves.

- Website hosting: this is the service that you need if you would like to keep a site. To a certain degree, it comprises all of the aforementioned hosting kinds since, along with your sites, you can also host pics and files, you can keep databases and mail accounts, upload video files, etc. At Eagle Eye Computers, for example, you can take a look at web hosting and dedicated web server hosting plans that enable you to have all of the aforementioned services in one place. There may be limits depending on the type of hosting solution that you've selected - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting account, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your web site hosting plan may be better or worse juxtaposed to the common e-mail/file/video/image hosting accounts that are made for particular content only.
